Radiology Technician Training in Pune to Meet Growing Demand for Skilled Imaging Professionals
Pune, Maharashtra: As digital dentistry continues to reshape oral healthcare, the need for skilled professionals capable of operating advanced diagnostic imaging systems is increasing rapidly. Recognising this demand, SOVAKA Lifesciences (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. has announced the launch of a Dental Radiology Technician Training Program in Pune, a one-month hands-on course designed to prepare aspiring technicians for careers in CBCT and OPG imaging through practical clinical experience.
The initiative is built on the legacy of Nidaan, which has been providing oral and dental radiology services in Pune for more than four decades. During this time, the organisation has witnessed a consistent shortage of trained dental imaging technicians, even as clinics and diagnostic centres have adopted increasingly sophisticated imaging technologies.
Responding to an Industry Need
Dental imaging today plays a critical role in diagnosis and treatment planning for procedures ranging from implants and orthodontics to oral surgery. Technologies such as Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and Orthopantomogram (OPG) have become integral to modern dental practice, but finding professionals trained to operate these systems remains a challenge.
According to SOVAKA Lifesciences, the new training program has been developed to bridge this gap by focusing on practical skills that are directly relevant to day-to-day clinical operations.
Unlike conventional classroom-based courses, the program allows trainees to learn inside operational Nidaan CBCT & OPG centres, where they work alongside experienced radiology teams, observe patient workflows and gain exposure to professional diagnostic practices.
Practical Learning at the Core
The one-month course is designed to equip students with both technical knowledge and operational confidence.
The curriculum includes patient positioning techniques, FDI tooth numbering, OPG image acquisition, CBCT workflow, Frankfort plane alignment, TMJ positioning, radiation safety in accordance with AERB guidelines, as well as digital imaging processes such as DICOM management and cloud-based PACS systems.
Training takes place using real diagnostic equipment in a live clinical environment, enabling participants to understand the complete workflow involved in dental imaging rather than learning through simulations alone.
Accessible to Students from Diverse Backgrounds
One of the key features of the program is its inclusive eligibility criteria.
Applicants must be 18 years or older, have completed Class 12, possess basic computer skills and be comfortable learning in English, Marathi or Hindi.
A science background is not compulsory, and candidates from Arts, Commerce, vocational courses and other academic streams are encouraged to apply. Previous experience in healthcare is also not required.
SOVAKA believes that commitment, discipline and a willingness to learn are the qualities that matter most for building successful careers in dental radiology.
Designed for Pune’s Local Workforce
Admissions for the current program are limited to candidates from Pune and nearby regions.
Since training is conducted within operational imaging centres, batch sizes remain intentionally small to ensure personalised guidance and meaningful practical exposure.
By focusing on local candidates, the company hopes to create a steady pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute directly to Pune’s expanding dental healthcare ecosystem.
Pathway to Employment
Beyond technical training, the program has been designed to improve employability.
Candidates who successfully complete the course and demonstrate strong practical performance may be considered for opportunities within the growing SOVAKA and Nidaan network, including positions such as CBCT Technician, OPG Technician, Radiology Workflow Coordinator and Diagnostic Centre Operations Executive.
Graduates will also be added to the SOVAKA & Nidaan Certified Professionals Registry, creating a verified record of trained professionals that can be accessed by employers.
Supporting a Growing Diagnostic Network
The launch of the technician training program comes alongside SOVAKA Lifesciences’ continued expansion of the Nidaan CBCT & OPG network across Maharashtra through its Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated (FOCO) model.
The company provides franchise partners with centralized operational support, including radiology staffing, standardized workflows, cloud-based reporting systems and technology management, while partners contribute infrastructure and local market presence.
According to the company, the network currently comprises six operational centres performing more than 1,000 CBCT scans every month, supported by a centralized team of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiologists delivering reports within 12 to 24 hours.
As additional centres are established, graduates from the training program are expected to help meet the growing demand for qualified imaging professionals.
Building the Future of Dental Diagnostics
SOVAKA Lifesciences views technician training as one part of its broader strategy to strengthen India’s dental imaging ecosystem.
The company is working towards integrating standardized imaging centres through cloud-enabled PACS infrastructure, AI-assisted reporting solutions and remote teleradiology workflows that connect clinicians, imaging centres and radiologists on a unified platform.
By investing simultaneously in technology, clinical infrastructure and workforce development, SOVAKA aims to improve both the quality and accessibility of dental imaging services while creating new career opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Applications for the Dental Radiology Technician Training Program are currently open on a rolling basis, subject to available training capacity.
