India’s solar industry is growing rapidly, but the expansion of the sector also brings another important requirement—skilled people who can build and manage the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
This is an area that has remained an important part of the work of P. Venkat Reddy, AMIE, MDCA.
With more than 14 years of experience in renewable energy, P. Venkat Reddy has worked not only on solar projects but also on training, mentoring and encouraging young people to explore opportunities in the clean energy sector.
He has mentored more than 5,000 students and entrepreneurs and has interacted with engineers, ITI students and Polytechnic students as part of his work in solar skill development.
His approach is straightforward. As India’s renewable energy sector expands, young professionals need practical knowledge about how the industry actually works. Solar projects require people with skills in design, engineering, installation, project management, operations and maintenance.
P. Venkat Reddy’s own career covers many of these areas.
He is the Managing Director of Red Rays Renewable Energy, working in solar EPC and project development across rooftop, ground-mounted, industrial and commercial projects.
He also serves as Executive Director of Priven Solar & Infra Pvt Ltd, where his responsibilities cover the complete project cycle, including feasibility studies, project financing, engineering, EPC execution and long-term O&M.
At SHS Energies & Infra Projects, where he is a Co-Founder, more than 1,000 projects have been executed across residential, commercial, industrial and government segments.

His industry experience has also led to leadership responsibilities at the sector level. As National President of TSSIA – The Solar System Integrators Association, he is involved in industry representation, policy discussions, collaboration and capacity building.
P. Venkat Reddy also serves as National Director of WEFAA – World Economic Forum for Asia & Africa, where his areas of involvement include entrepreneurship, investment and cross-border collaboration between Asia and Africa, particularly in renewable energy and infrastructure.
His interest in developing young talent is closely linked to his larger vision for India. He believes the country’s clean energy transition can create opportunities not only for established companies but also for young entrepreneurs looking to build businesses in the solar sector.
His international exposure adds another dimension to this work. He serves as Chief Consultant at Avitech P/L in Zimbabwe and has advisory associations involving clean energy initiatives in New Zealand and Bangladesh.
He has also been invited to deliver a lecture at Oxford University on renewable energy leadership.
For P. Venkat Reddy, skill development and entrepreneurship are important parts of India’s clean energy story. A strong renewable energy sector needs trained professionals, but it also needs people who are willing to create new businesses and solutions.
His work continues to combine these two areas—building solar projects and helping build the people who will shape India’s renewable energy future.
