Most weight gain plans fail for a boring reason. They are too perfect. Six meals, a gym slot every morning, a protein shake every three hours. It looks great on paper and lasts about ten days.
So here is a plan that is a bit more forgiving. Think of it as a template, not a rulebook.
Food: aim for regular, not perfect
Three solid meals and one or two snacks is a good place to start. You do not need exotic ingredients. Some ideas that work in an Indian kitchen:
- Breakfast: paneer or besan chilla, parathas with a little ghee, eggs if you eat them, a banana and a glass of milk.
- Lunch: dal, rice or roti, a vegetable, curd and a salad.
- Snack: a handful of nuts, peanut chikki, a banana shake or makhana.
- Dinner: khichdi, roti with sabzi and dal, or a similar light but filling meal.
If you are vegetarian, pay attention to protein from dal, paneer, curd, soya and legumes. Spread it across the day.
Movement: two to three days of resistance work
You do not need a fancy gym. Bodyweight squats, push-ups, lunges and rows are enough to begin with. The point is simple. When the body is asked to build muscle, more of the extra food goes towards it. Start light and add gradually.

Rest: protect your sleep
Seven to eight hours is a good target. Recovery and appetite both depend on it.
