The growth of basketball depends on more than talented players. It requires coaches, mentors and athletes who continue to push the sport forward.
Akash Kumar and Rohit Sehwag represent these different but equally important roles.
Akash Kumar has built his basketball journey through competition, coaching and athlete development. With experience in 3×3 basketball and international-level events, he later transitioned into coaching with the objective of sharing his knowledge with younger players.
As an NIS-certified basketball coach, Akash believes that strong fundamentals are the foundation of every successful player. Through Skyblaze Academy in Pune, he works to provide structured training and development opportunities for aspiring athletes.
Rohit Sehwag represents the spirit of an athlete who has continued to pursue his sporting ambitions over more than a decade.
Born in Haryana and raised in an armed-forces family, Rohit began playing basketball in Visakhapatnam in 2013. Encouraged to try the sport because of his height, he soon developed a serious passion for the game.
He represented his school at the national level before continuing his basketball journey in Goa, where he represented his college, Varunapuri Ballers Club and Don Bosco Fatorda in 3×3 competition.
Now based in Pune, Rohit balances his real estate career with his basketball ambitions. As a shooting guard for Skyblaze Academy, he has participated in FIBA 3×3 tournaments and continues to pursue international opportunities.
The journeys of Akash Kumar and Rohit Sehwag show how basketball grows through both mentorship and determination. One works to create opportunities for players, while the other continues to make the most of those opportunities through discipline and hard work.
